Zoho Books - August 2026 Updates

Zoho Books has published its monthly round-up, covering document templates, UK tax filing, approval workflows, inventory reporting and other enhancements.

• HTML PDF Templates let you build document templates for custom modules from scratch with HTML and CSS, or customise a ready-made template.
• Those templates support dynamic placeholders, conditional logic, calculations and page layout control.
• Placeholders now display as pills when you are working in templates.
• Eligible UK businesses can prepare and submit Self Assessment Tax Returns, form SA100, to HMRC directly from Zoho Books, and receive an Information Reference mark as confirmation.
• Custom approval workflows are now supported for Manual Journals.
• Simple, multi-level or custom approval workflows can be configured for Sales Returns, for organisations that use the Accepted status.
• Barcode label templates can be built with HTML and CSS, with custom page sizes and placeholders for organisation, item, batch and serial number details.
• A new Purchase Order By Item report gives a clearer view of purchase order data.
• Purchase receives can be filtered by approval status on the list page, in custom views, in advanced search and on the Vendor and Item detail pages.
• Images for items and composite items can now be imported in bulk.
• The Batch Details report can be scheduled.
• In the Inventory Summary report, the Shipment and Receives filter now shows in-transit purchase receives and transfer order stock combined in the In-Transit column.
• Credit notes can be included in the Profit by Item report.
• The Inventory Aging Summary report accepts months and years as time interval units.
• You can hold contextual conversations about custom module records, asking questions and retrieving record-specific data.

Availability: Inventory items require the Zoho Inventory add-on. Self Assessment filing applies to the UK edition.
