Custom views in Zoho CRM have always let you filter a module by its own fields. With cross-module filtering you can now filter by data in related modules too — something that used to need a report or Zoho Analytics.
Example 1: accounts with open deals
- In Accounts, create a new custom view (e.g. "Accounts with open deals").
- In the criteria, choose the related Deals module and set Stage is any of your open stages.
- Save.
You now have a live list of accounts with at least one open deal.
Example 2: contacts with no future follow-up
For account-management teams, every key contact should have a next action booked. This view finds the ones that don't:
- In Contacts, create a view called "My contacts without future actions".
- Set the criteria to contacts without any related Tasks with a due date from tomorrow onwards.
- Add Contact Owner is Logged in user, so the view is personal to whoever opens it.
- Share the view with everyone and save.
Each person now sees their own contacts with nothing scheduled. Teams that tracked this through several Zoho Analytics reports get the same answer in real time, inside CRM, without the hourly sync delay.
Combine with parent-module fields
You can also filter on the parent record. For example: contacts owned by the logged-in user, where the related account's Account Type is Customer. Stack related-module and parent-module criteria to get exactly the list you need.
Tips
- This works in any module with related records — leads, contacts, accounts, deals and custom modules.
- Views like these make great daily worklists. Pin them for your team so nobody has to rebuild the filter.
- Need a number on the record rather than a filtered list? Use a roll-up summary field, such as number of open tasks.
